I have migrated...

I usually blog only from my home. This post too, comes from my home, but from a different location within Chennai. Yes, I shifted my home. I’m now a member of the elite “I own a home” community.

Woke up at 4 AM on Monday (yeah, can you believe that? I still can’t!!!) and went to the new house for the pooja to start. I wonder why the “new house ritual” has to be this smoky. The priest setup what is called a “ganapthy homam” in the center of the house and started putting in all sorts of things into it. I came to know then that what he put inside is referred to as “navadhaaniyam”. “Whatever, just let him finish this ASAP and let me outta this place” I thought. Finally it was over and we had breakfast (the normal idly, sambar, vada chutney). My dad then told we’ll start with the shifting.

Being a small family, we didn’t have too much of belongings and so I thought shifting shouldn’t be a big deal. Boy, I was wrong. Packing up things into bags before shifting and unpacking them was one hell of a task. The problem here is, you don’t know what is in what bag and in the search for a particular thing you mess up things so much that you wish you never had that thing. Neways, I just unassembled my system and packed the components neatly so that I wouldn’t have any difficulties setting it up in the new house. And here I am, blogging from my new house. I started to think what impact does this shift to new house have on my life. I list down the impacts for you to read:
· I gotta walk more distance now to catch my office bus
· I need to climb more steps to my home (we were in the 1st floor, now we’re in 2nd)
· I can now take bath in a shower
· For some days I will wake up in the morning thinking where the hell I am.
· I miss ogling at the females passing by (my old house was on the main road). Hoping to see some new ones in the new colony I’m in (wish me luck, please).
· Last but definitely the most, I would miss the sounds of vehicles passing on the main road in the night… finding it difficult to sleep now.
