...if it wants to become a developed country. I'm getting impressed by the american lifestyle (there are, of course, some exceptions like the dry cleaning :-)) day by day. There is so much of technology and automation involved in the average American's everyday life that makes America the developed nation that it is. Everything is so modularised here and designed with immense foresight that anything you need is just a phone call or a click away.
The American mindset is very different from an Indian one.
An American shopping at any shop will first look at the product to check whether it is of good quality and then check the price to see if it's worth it. But I find myself checking the price before the quality. Maybe because I'm here to save. But I wonder if my behaviour would be any different if I had come here to just chill out and enjoy. 'cause I've grown up this way.
The main difference though, is that Americans have respect and faith in following processes religiously. There is an established process to do almost everything and people follow that process. If you dont follow that process, the consequences will be severe. In India, even if you establish a process to do something, people won't be ready to follow it (I'm no exception!). And when you do not follow the process, you can always get away with 50 or 100 bucks to the cop. Everything boils down to the core problem of corruption, doesn't it?
And people here are too polite and if you are not polite, you are a very rude person. 'twas my first day at office and when I was walking into office I saw this pretty lady and as usual, I started ogling at her. She saw me looking at her and said, "Hi, Good morning!". I was taken aback. I gave a puzzled look and just proceeded. What I thought was a cute face suddenly changed into a very angry one. My friend who was walking with me then told that in US one is supposed to reply when someone greets you even if you don't know them. Imagine a girl (or a boy, if u r a girl) who you dont know saying hi to you in India. You would think he/she is trying to flirt with you, won't you?
